Rumson, NJ.- On Thursday, July 10th, we were invited by Lauren Vernon, board member of The Women's Council of the Leon Hess Cancer Center, to cover one of the events organized by them: the 19th Annual 'Power of Pink' Luncheon, the fundraiser that brings more than 450 men and women together to raise funds to enhance the quality of care delivered to cancer patients at Monmouth Medical Center.

The event took place at Old Oaks, the private estate of Claire and Woody Knopf. The weather was just perfect, and as a matter of fact, everything was just great! The food, the personalities who attended (all of them fashionably well dressed), and, of course, the event itself.

The 'Power of Pink' Luncheon proceeds allow the Council to support numerous hospital initiatives, including the purchase of state- of- the- art equipment, which aids in proper diagnosis and effective treatment of cancer patients.

This year's proceeds will fund the Patient Infusion Unit, where patients of all ages receive quality care including chemotherapy infusions and injections, blood transfusions, hydration treatments and other lifesaving treatments.

During the event, Dr. Gregory Greco was honored by the Council, due to his commitment to deliver safe, quality plastic surgery and comprehensive medical care. Dr. Greco is the current President of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Arianna Huffington, President and Editor in Chief of the Huffington Post was the Celebrity Speaker of the 19th Annual 'Power of Pink' Luncheon. In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, and in 2012, the site won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. During the event, Mrs. Huffington autographed copies of 'Thrive', her 14th book.

The Women's Council was founded in 1995 by Bonnie Levin, a cancer survivor, who identified a need to inform women the importance of early detection of cancer and the progress being made in cancer research.

Since its inception, OVER $2 MILLION DOLLARS has been raised for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center.

The Roll Out The Ribbons campaign is unique in that it pulls together all these cancer-specific ribbons to highlight the need to raise awareness to fight EVERY CANCER in EVERY COMMUNITY.
